Vogrie Country Park

Today, after diving, we went to Vogrie Country Park. It was recommended to us by a friend of Dad's and it was great fun. They have some great art and we had a fab time playing on the big chairs.

They had a great park for kids where I set some great examples for my fellow cherubs!

And then on the way back to the car we came across a very cool bike!

Cycling in the Sun

Dad and me popped out for a cycle in the sun. Thought we'd share this cool picture of our shadows...

I Love the Holidays

Mummy and I have had a great day today. After we dropped Daddy off at work, we went off to Linlithgow for my swimming lesson. I've been every day this week, and I've been learning loads. At the start of the week I told Mummy that backstroke was my least favourite stroke, but now I really like it, and I'm really good at it! Take a look at this:

After swimming we stopped in at Dobbies for a drink and a cake. Yum. To be honest though, I think I ate a bit much (and I know Mummy did!), so we are not going to do that again tomorrow!

We then went home and I played with my Power Miners Lego for ages while Mummy did Mummy stuff around the house. I can't tell you what any of that was, because I can't say I see any difference! After lunch we cycled to the dentist - passed with a clean bill of health (and teeth), and then took the long route home (on purpose!). Then I watched Harry Potter 2 for a bit before we went off to gymnastics - Mummy was just driving, not taking part! As usual I had lots of fun - we're practising for our competition in September at the moment, and my teacher Allen told Mummy and Daddy the other day that he is having to do more advanced stuff with me because I am doing so well. Hooray for me!

And now I am home, playing with more Lego and wondering when Mummy is finally going to be finished making dinner!

Busy Afternoon

We went geocaching this afternoon again. It was a long afternoon and Mummy and Daddy took me a bit too far without anything to eat or drink - it'd really help if they either prepared properly or had the first clue where they were going half the time. I think Daddy could benefit from owning a new iPhone 4, I'll try to convince Mummy of this.
Anyway, we got 5 caches this afternoon and with another one this morning, today has been our most productive caching day! We started the afternoon at Bangour Village Hospital and I took my bike. It was great fun cycling around there although a bit steep at times; of course, if you have to cycle up a hill there's always the coming down! Mummy was a bit scared some of those times! It's a good safe place as there are no cars but a lot of roads. Mummy says she might bring me here for some cycling during the summer holidays.

After Bangour we picked up another cache across the road beside a sign very similar to the Hollywood sign I saw in the Bolt movie.

The next two caches were near Dechmont Law which turned out to be steep hill with a cool forest nearby. One of the caches was near where the aliens were spotted and I drew a nice picture of an alien in the log!

And then it was *very* long walk back to the car. And then off for some fish and chips and doughnuts for afterwards!

Canal Cycling

We went for a long cycle today along the canal. We parked at my friend's house (they were out) because it's near the canal and then went out for about an hour. I was on the tag-along behind Daddy's bike and helped most of the time which made it much easier for Daddy. We went as far as the wee island with the little castle and then turned to come back. When we turned back the wind was in our faces and Daddy found it very difficult - even with me helping, we were getting slower and slower as Daddy got hungrier and hungrier and I almost thought we wouldn't make it back to the car but Mummy came to the rescue (better late than never!). Even though Mummy was pulling me while riding Daddy's bike we were still faster than Daddy on Mummy's bike - I'll take emergency rations for Daddy next time.

Here's a (phone) photo of us on the viaduct. I obeyed the rules and got off the bike but Mummy was showing her rebellious side and continued cycling.

Learning to cycle

I've been playing on bikes of some kind or another for a while. But it's become time to get the stabilisers off and cycle like a big boy. I had a few lessons with Daddy in the square outside our house but I wasn't enjoying it much. I wanted my stabilisers back. Daddy was encouraging me to just balance and cycle down the slope to get used to it but I was finding it too difficult and scary.

Then Daddy decided to help me cycle across the square. I had to cycle as it wasn't downhill. Daddy stayed with me at all times in case I fell. We had our first go the day before we went to Disneyland and I really enjoyed it. Then when we came back from Disneyland we went out again and I cracked it! So two lessons and I'm cycling. Can't get enough of the bike at the moment. Mummy and Daddy can't wait for the same breakthrough with the swimming!

Tenuous Cycling Link

Sitting around on a Saturday afternoon watching telly... The weather has been a bit changeable - meaning it might be sunny now but in five minutes the rain could be heavy enough to drown a fish. Still, Daddy suggested we go for a bike ride - with the tag-along. I agreed, but only after Lazy Town finished. Folks familiar with Lazy Town may appreciate why Daddy suggested that was quite an ironic statement.

While waiting for Lazy Town to finish, I had trouble getting comfortable but eventually managed...

The Future of Cycling

We've been going bicycle daft recently. I don't honestly know how Daddy is going to fit them all in the garage. Look at the latest addition. This is my favourite new bike. It's called a tag-along and Mummy got it for us. Conveniently, it doesn't fit on Mummy's bike so Daddy always has to do the pulling. I don't really mind!

We've been for a couple of long cycles on it and I don't even get tired. Daddy does though! I must confess that I don't peddle too much but when we're going uphill and Daddy needs the help then I do peddle so that he doesn't have to work so hard and he says it's really helpful.

CHiPs

Check this out! It's my new bike! It's a Ridgeback MX14. I saved up my money and got Mummy to sell some of my old baby toys to pay for half of it. Once I was good enough on my Puky we went to buy it from a really cool shop in Fife called Sandy Wallace Cycles. They were really helpful and gave me plenty time to ride the bike around the shop to ensure I could reach the pedals and brake levers OK.

Here's a picture of me riding with Daddy. Daddy said something about being CHiPs so I said he could be the big chip and I'd be the little chip. He laughed at that - not sure why...

More Cycling

We went to see Granny and Grandpa at the end of last week. On Saturday morning I wanted to go visit my friends Charlie and Ellie but we couldn't so Granny suggested we take my Puky along the cycle path between Kingussie and Newtonmore. We drove down to the cycle path and ended up going almost all the way to Newtonmore before finding a place suitable to stop and get out.

I started cycling along the cycle path. It was a good path and I was able to build up a nice speed. Nice enough that Daddy had to really run to keep up with me! After about half a mile Mummy and Daddy decided it would be better if Mummy went back and got the car. They'd thought I'd just go a few hundred yards and come back but I was having too much fun and after all, we were heading back to Kingussie anyway, why would I turn and go back?

We met Mummy further up but I still wasn't finished. I kept going all the way to Kingussie! Then Daddy put the bike in the car and sent Mummy home because I wanted to walk back to Granny and Grandpa's. It was a good trip. Mummy reckons I cycled and walked about 3 miles. It sure did tire me out though - more on that next time.

Cycling update

Just a quick cycling update. Video from Daddy's phone again. Mummy recorded a better one with the video camera at the weekend but then it ate the tape so Daddy can't get it onto the computer. I'm enjoying the Puky so much that I've started taking it to nursery just like Daddy takes his bike to work. Thing is, my nursery is just across the road from the house so I make Mummy take me out the front door and around the block so that I get a good cycle!

Cockie or Cockney?

Mummy: "Edan, will you go to the toilet please before we go to soft play?"

Edan: "I'm too busy just now, darlin'. I'll go later."

I wonder who I picked that up from?...Mummy, or the other one?

And just for fun, here's a video of me on my Puky bike (it has no pedals - I'm just learning to balance).

Life begins at 4

Happy Birthday to me, Happy Birthday to me..!

What a fantastic day I've had today. It's my fourth birthday today and it's been like Christmas here. Mummy made an amazing cake. I picked the cake from her book and she spent all day yesterday making it. Daddy says the air in the kitchen was occasionally blue - not sure what happened to cause that but wish I'd seen it. Mummy says she's never going to make another cake in her life, but I didn't believe her the last couple of times she said that either.

I had forgotten that you sometimes get presents on your birthday so I was extremely excited when Mummy reminded me this morning. We all got dressed (just like Christmas) and then went downstairs together. There was a pile of presents in the middle of the sitting room floor all for me!

First I had to investigate the status of the birthday cake (Mummy was still making it after I went to bed last night). Mummy really had made a good job of it. I was especially pleased with the cannon on top and had to eat that first!

I opened my cards and and then started on the presents. It was a great haul. Lots of Playmobil Knights stuff. My toys were a great match for my cake! There were also some great new books. Mummy and Daddy built my Knights stuff while I played with them.

And then Mummy and Daddy showed me my new BIKE. It doesn't have pedals so that I can learn to go it without stabilisers. It's brilliant but turned out to be a lot harder to ride than Daddy made it look. I'll need quite a bit of practice.

I want to ride my tricycle

I went out on my trike at the weekend. It's been the first time I've been outside on it because of the weather and lack of daylight. It's a wee bit difficult but a push and hill are a good help. It was good fun. I hope I can go out on it a lot more.
