Stirling Castle

We went to Stirling Castle today. It was great. They happen to have a few folk there at the moment putting on displays and stuff and they let me practice with a shield - no chance for Daddy to get the better of me with that! There's quite a lot of rooms and nooks and crannies to explore - even though it's still largely intact. In fact, we almost tested the Stirling Fire Brigade but I was able to remove my head from bars eventually. Stirling Castle also has probably the best view of all the castles we've been to this past 12 months.

Speaking of all the castles, a quick count-up of all the stamps in the back of our Historic Scotland book suggests we've been to 12. The new book is here and we'll see if we can see at least as many in the next 12 months - although I suspect a few will be repeat visits. But that's OK - most of them are well worth another siege.

Anyway, back to Stirling. After beating Mummy on the battlements, I made friends with a nice man on the way out of the castle and we had a long talk about how he'd been visiting a few castles - including Ruthven Barracks near Granny and Grandpa's house - where the castle fighting started - hey! That's means we've been to 13, right (they don't stamp your book there)?
