Back to Findhorn Beach

With a fine morning, we headed out to Findhorn beach. I had some more paddling to do and Dad had a better castle to build. It was a great success on a really lovely morning.

Dad's castle was a much better effort and we waited a long time for the tide to come in and engulf it but Dad couldn't keep me at bay forever and I soon beat the tide to its destruction!

East Lothian in the Sun

It's been sunny all week and with nothing already planned for a beautiful Saturday, Mum and Dad decided a trip to East Lothian would be a good idea. First we headed to Tantallon Castle, just in time for lunch and a wee picnic Mum had prepared.

Then Dad got the swords and we explored and fought our way around the castle - lots of fun on a beautiful day.

Tantallon is right on the coast and the nearby beach and water looked amazing so afterwards we headed down to Seacliff beach. It was pretty busy as it's a really nice beach. The tide was on its way out so there were plenty of rock pools for us to explore. We saw fish, shrimp, shore crabs, hermit crabs and even a few tiny flat fish. I caught a hermit crab and had a shrimp run over my hand! This is actually a couple of the 50 things I need to do before I'm 11 and 3/4!

We also climbed a little hill and found a secret little harbour and explored the rocky area beyond where Dad took a bunch of pictures of me looking reflectively out at Bass Rock. And jumping!

After that, it was time to get in the sea. No one could believe I hadn't been in yet, although I had managed to get my new trainers pretty soaked in the rock pools! A quick strip and into my trunks then I waded into the sea. And actually did some swimming! This is another of the 50 things to do before I'm 11 and 3/4! It was pretty difficult and I didn't do many strokes. Having been taught to swim correctly, I put my face in the water - there's none of this head up nonsense with me! But no one had brought my goggles so it was fairly uncomfortable. I did it though! Very pleased myself and so are Mum and Dad.

I Love the Holidays

Mummy and I have had a great day today. After we dropped Daddy off at work, we went off to Linlithgow for my swimming lesson. I've been every day this week, and I've been learning loads. At the start of the week I told Mummy that backstroke was my least favourite stroke, but now I really like it, and I'm really good at it! Take a look at this:

After swimming we stopped in at Dobbies for a drink and a cake. Yum. To be honest though, I think I ate a bit much (and I know Mummy did!), so we are not going to do that again tomorrow!

We then went home and I played with my Power Miners Lego for ages while Mummy did Mummy stuff around the house. I can't tell you what any of that was, because I can't say I see any difference! After lunch we cycled to the dentist - passed with a clean bill of health (and teeth), and then took the long route home (on purpose!). Then I watched Harry Potter 2 for a bit before we went off to gymnastics - Mummy was just driving, not taking part! As usual I had lots of fun - we're practising for our competition in September at the moment, and my teacher Allen told Mummy and Daddy the other day that he is having to do more advanced stuff with me because I am doing so well. Hooray for me!

And now I am home, playing with more Lego and wondering when Mummy is finally going to be finished making dinner!

SpeedBoy has his invunisations

Hiya,

I went swimming on Sunday to Whitburn pool with Mummy because Daddy had to work. It was the first time we'd been to Whitburn pool and it was very good. It has a very large pool for grown ups and a great pool for kids too. Except the kids pool was being used for a class so we weren't allowed to play in there. We had to go in the adult pool. It was a fuge pool and was far too deep for me to touch the bottom anywhere. But that didn't trouble me. I just used my woggle and swum around. I even did two lengths! Mummy was very impressed and called me a speedboat, but I corrected her and told her that I'm a speedboy!

Today I had to go to the doctor's and get my latest invunisations. They tried to distract me and get me to look out the window while two of them came at me from either side and stuck a needle in each arm! I didn't appreciate that much but Mummy says I was very brave and I got a nice sticker for my jumper. I went back to nursery and didn't think much of it but it was a wee bit sore in the evening so no bath tonight. We'll take the plasters off tomorrow and it'll be all better. At least now I can't catch any nasty bugs.

Swimming update

We went swimming on Sunday for the first time in several weeks. I was really looking forward to it and had a great time. I used my woggle to float around, kicking my legs and jumped in a bunch of times. Mummy and Daddy said I did really well and it was a great improvement since last time we were there. Very (and pleasantly) surprising since I haven't been for a while...
