1953

To celebrate the queen's diamond jubilee, my Beavers troop held a 1950s party in the hall. We all had great fun and the hall was transformed with union jack flags, bunting and cakes (yes, union jack cakes!). But the reason it's worthy of a post here is we all had to dress up like it was the 1950s. Check me out!

Happy Anniversary

It's Granny and Grandpa's Diamond Wedding anniversary this week and all the family got together today for an awesome lunch to celebrate. Mummy and Daddy told me that there was no food for me and I would have to share some of theirs but I sat with Auntie Carol and she gave me plenty of her excellent food! And then they gave me food of my own anyway!

Uncle Dave made some paper aeroplanes and between courses I was able to fly them around the place. Luckily there weren't very many other people having lunch!

Happy Anniversary Granny and Grandpa!

Skyfest 2009

Daddy's work is amazing! We all went to his work today and it was just having fun. I can't believe he gets to do that all day. First up we watched (and tapped our feet) to a great band called Kilter. Mummy and Daddy said they played at their wedding - I bet that was a good party!

Then we went on a large ferris wheel that went up really high and we could see for miles. Then we saw Ian and Camilla from Dancing Time doing a few dances for us and they taught us how to do a cha-cha-cha later in the day. "Dancing Time" is Mummy's absolute favourite (and probably the only reason she agreed to go today!).

There was lots to see and do. There were some Disney stage shows, including the Wildcats from High School Musical doing incredible basketball tricks. I also rowed enough on a rowing machine to blow up three big balloons and kicked a ball so fast I knocked down the speed sensor! We went on the dodgems and I had to drive with Mummy because Daddy was going to bump into his boss! Mummy and I ended up in the middle of a massive pile up. Apparently that's a tradition when Mummy is in a dodgem car - I knew I should have insisted on driving with Daddy!

We also created a new Guinness World Record for number of people singing 'If you're happy and you know it' at one time (755)!

And we finished the day by dancing along to "Bjorn Again" live while I marveled at an amazing guy doing outstanding tricks with a diabolo yoyo. When I asked him how he got so good he said 'practice'. What's that?

Dance Video

We were at the wedding of an old friend of Daddy's last night. Auntie Vikki and Uncle Ian were there too which was great because Mummy and Daddy disappeared but Uncle Ian stayed with me and danced for ages. I think he liked all the attention I was getting for him. The band were really good and before we went home Daddy and I went and thanked them for playing such good music.

I stayed up later than I've ever stayed up before and it was great fun. You can see in the video, that Uncle Ian took below, how much fun I was having - and this was just during the band's interval while everyone was at the buffet!

Gymnastics Display

I don't think I've mentioned it on here before but I attend a gymnastics class on a Saturday morning. It plays havoc with Mummy and Daddy's plans but it'll be worth it in a few Olympics time!

We had our annual display at the weekend and our class was in it. We did our normal class routine and a wee assault course. The older kids did some very fancy displays with tumbling and carrying two people and stuff. Mummy says I'll be able to do that when I get bigger. I'm pretty sure I can do the climbing up folk and standing on their shoulders now - I do it to Daddy all the time!

Disneyland Paris

We were at Disneyland Paris a couple of weeks ago. It's taken this long to put this video together. But you must admit, it's worth the wait! Although, to be fair, much of the wait was just on it uploading to YouTube.

And after all of that, this blog is not wide enough to show the whole video. Feel free to go to YouTube and view the whole movie in High Quality by following this link.

Birthday Party

I had my birthday party today! My birthday isn't until Friday but what with next week being Easter weekend and all we had the party today. It was great fun! We played in the softplay for an hour and spent as much of that time as possible tormenting Daddy - superb! Then we had some food and played games. Only one person got physically hurt - which was good I thought: some of the other kids have horror stories to tell about their parties around the water cooler at nursery. A few folk were emotionally hurt when they didn't win prizes - so immature!

I had an abosolutely fab time though and scored LOADS of presents that were all really good. Can't wait for actual birthday now!

The Negotiator

"If you don't pass me that helicopter then you can't come to my party. And if you don't come to my party then I can't have a party. And I want to have a party. So you need to come to my party. So you need to do what I tell you. So pass me that helicopter."

Typecast?

We've been given our parts in this year's nursery nativity play for this year and I'm to be an angel. Mummy says the casting goes completely against type. Especially since we're into the pre-Christmas behavioural meltdown. But I am so cute though...

BAE Systems Open Day

We went to an open day at Auntie Vikki's work at the weekend. That was great fun! For a start we got to see Auntie Vikki, Uncle Ian, Gran and Grandad but there was also loads of fun stuff to do. It was spoiled a wee bit by the ultra-boring tour of Auntie Vikki's work. They just make some of the most advanced missiles in the british forces there so it's really not very interesting.

But outside they had football mascots (here's me with Sammy the Dunfermline mascot).

There were also fairground-type things for us kids (me and Mummy). Here we are on the tea-cups and the inflatable chute. I had a go on a horse, got some ice-cream, won a balloon by rolling a 2 pence piece onto a star. It was a really tiring day.

On the way out to the car I had a go in a fire engine and then I worked the army's JCB digger and scored a goal by knocking a ball off a traffic cone with the back bucket. It really was a busy day. I didn't want to go home so we went to Auntie Vikki's house for a wee while before going home. Auntie Vikki is very lucky to work at a place with all those games in the car park. I'd like to work someplace like that when I grow up.

Birthday bash

A couple of weeks ago we went up north to have a family dinner. There are a few milestone birthdays in Mummy's family this year - a 40th, a 50th and an 80th so we got together to have lunch. It's unusual to get all of Mummy's family together at the same time so it was really fun. You can't beat being the centre of attention for 4 women! So Daddy says anyway.

While we waited to be seated, Uncle Ian and I had a wee game of chess. I think he found it pretty challenging but I let him win in the end.

Lunch was excellent, even with the inevitable ordering debacle, but the food and company were superb. A good time was had by all.

On the way home we stopped in at Auntie Carol and Uncle Dave's house again. We spent a while in the garden and I helped Uncle Dave dig up some of his new potatoes which we had with mince when we got home (very good too, thanks Uncle Dave!). Daddy also snapped a photo of Mummy stealing more raspberries while she thought no one was looking!

Unfortunately it was just a day trip so we had to head home again pretty quickly. We're all already looking forward to the next trip north.

Birthday Party Karma

It was my birthday party today. We had it at Linlithgow Leisure Centre. We started in the soft play area and run amok there for an hour getting pretty hot. Then we moved into the hall for some food and a lot of running around playing with balloons and the excellent-fun pilates balls! We were all having a whale of a time and then Mummy and Daddy made us stop to play party games. A quick game of pass the parcel and then musical bumps and we could thankfully get back to running around like four-year-olds again.

When we got home, I spent ages opening the wonderful gifts everyone had given me and playing with them all with Daddy. We had great fun. Hopefully I can convince (or guilt-trip if necessary) Mummy and Daddy into another party next year.

I should probably explain the post title, though... Last week was my friend Emma's party. I couldn't go because I was sick so I missed it. Emma was also invited to my party and she turned up today with her Mummy and a present for me but was sick as soon as she arrived in the car park. All over herself, the car and her Mummy apparently. So she popped in to wish me a happy birthday and give me the present then had to go straight home again. Poor Emma, I hope she gets over the bug a little faster than I did. Daddy says he hopes she didn't make too much of a mess of the car.

One other mention has to go to my other friend Emma's Mummy. We have her to thank for the picture of me blowing the candles out on my cake (it's a cool car cake that Mummy got - didn't make this one though). Daddy had left his camera in the car and then since everything was so rushed he didn't have time to go get it. Thank you Emma's mum!
