The Queen's Baton

We went along to see The Queen's Baton make its way through Livingston on its way to the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. There was a lot of sporty things to see and do, including a display by Astro Gymnastics - well done, folks!

I took part in a fun run and got a medal!

And here comes the Baton!

Chris Hoy's Postboxes

Today we went into Edinburgh to meet one of Mum's friends for lunch. Lunch is only a couple of hours so that left us plenty of time to do other things!

As usual, it was get the train in. We only just made it to the station in time which meant we had to buy tickets from the conductor. The conductor was very amused when we were in the middle of a very odd but funny one-word story at the time he arrived at our seats! Mum, Dad and me were taking it in turns to say only one word at a time to make up a story. This story involved aliens and car parks and purple and weather!

From the station we headed straight to Chris Hoy's first postbox on Hunter's Square where a kind tourist took this lovely picture of us all!

From there it was off to the museum for a bit. We spent a while in the animal section learning about Giant Land Sloths (they're taller than giraffes when they stand on the their hind legs!) and blue whales (their tongue weighs as much as an African Elephant!) and many other animals. Can you spot the t-rex skeleton in this picture?

And then we got to do a wee bit of excavation!

When we left the museum we headed for The Mound and the Paralympic Agitos were being erected.

We stopped very briefly to see the tail end of a street performance where I managed to get this picture while sitting on Dad's shoulders of a very impressive lady juggling fire while balanced on a ladder!

And then it was Chris Hoy's other postbox on Hannover Street!

Before finally making it to lunch at Guilliano's.

After an excellent lunch, Mum made us go back for a look around John Lewis before it was back on the train home. A great day!

I'm a Beaver!

Today I joined the Beavers. I've been along a couple of times before and really enjoy it so I got a Beavers jumper and joined today. Lucky Mummy now has SIX badges to sew onto my jumper!

I stood inside a circle and made my Beaver Pledge and then shook Brown Beaver's hand - left hand for us Beavers: I'm made for this place!

Happy Anniversary

It's Granny and Grandpa's Diamond Wedding anniversary this week and all the family got together today for an awesome lunch to celebrate. Mummy and Daddy told me that there was no food for me and I would have to share some of theirs but I sat with Auntie Carol and she gave me plenty of her excellent food! And then they gave me food of my own anyway!

Uncle Dave made some paper aeroplanes and between courses I was able to fly them around the place. Luckily there weren't very many other people having lunch!

Happy Anniversary Granny and Grandpa!

Top Reading Award

Check me out! We had our Friday assembly at school today and I got an award! It's an Achievement Award for "reading aloud confidently and with expression. Well done!" How cool is that. I'd just like to thank my mum and dad for supporting me. And for the Academy for recognising my brilliance.

Gymnastics Club Championships

It was my gymnastics club championships this weekend and I got a medal! So did everyone else so it's not that exciting. But I think next time I can get two medals like some of the other folk! Check me out in my pairs display with my partner.

Gymnastics Level 1 - DONE

Gymnastics was great today! I passed my level one so I get to move on to level 2 now. I was showing Daddy the things we do in gymnastics, you know - baby dish, mummy dish and daddy dish. But Daddy is just really impressed with the bridge. I do wish he'd stop asking me to do it though as it hurts my tummy. I get a badge and certificate when we go back after the holidays. I can't wait!

And I'd like to thank...

I got this award at school today. I had to go up during assembly to collect it. Only four people in each class got one - and they weren't all for the same thing.

Mummy says she is so proud she could burst.

Well, I'm not clearing up!

P1 Parents' Night I

It was parents night at school tonight. Mummy and Daddy went for a chat with my teacher while I was at wrap-around. They said they really liked my work and Daddy was particularly impressed by my very detailed pictures. My teacher seemed to be very pleased with my work saying I knew all my letter sounds and was very friendly and confident in class. She told Mummy and Daddy about the time she was telling us about when she taught in India and how I had listened very carefully and then asked her afterwards if we could do something to help the poor kids in India. Miss McMillan was so pleased with me for that she has put me on the eco committee.

It couldn't all be good though. Apparently I'm rather disorganised. I wonder where I get that from.

Graduation

We graduated from nursery today! Fortunately it doesn't mean I have to stop going. I'll keep going until I start school but we had a nice show for all the parents with songs and a proper ceremony where we dressed up and got our scrolls from the big boss lady.

I also took part in a display of the french class and the Yogabugs class - I was really busy!

A lot of the teachers and parents were in tears during and after it and apparently I was the direct cause of at least two of them (and they weren't Mummy and Daddy!).
