It's the end of my first year at primary school. Mummy and Daddy have said it's been far too fast and they can't believe it's over. Mummy and me have made these excellent gifts for my teachers. They're lucky people... To have spent the year with me!

Geocaching at Lochore Meadows
We went geocaching with Gran and Grandad at Lochore Meadows today. It was quite a walk up a steep hill and I was a bit worried about Gran but she made it!
We saw a really cool fallen tree that I was able to climb on while all the grown ups failed to find one of the geocaches! And there was a burnt out car. Daddy said something about being on the dark side of the forth when he saw that and Gran took me over to see it.
When we got back to the car park they'd set up for Ballingry Gala and had lots of bouncy castle-type things to play on but Daddy chased me on after only a couple of goes to head home. It was great fun though!

Gymnastics Display
We did our annual gymnastics display today. Mummy and Daddy said it was amazing - by far the best one they'd seen so far. I was involved in a Jungle Book display and also a Bad Boys display (think Bugsy Malone). I had a great time and had a very important role in the Bad Boys display! I ran away from my mates to chat up a girl and then the other boys came and dragged me away. I didn't really take a lot of convincing to do that part!
Daddy took loads of photos and here's a bunch of me in my displays and a lot of the seniors who do some unbelievable moves. I can't wait until I'm that good. Although Mummy and Daddy are a bit scared!

The Measure of Coolness
I was chatting to Daddy at breakfast this morning and I informed him that I was the second smallest boy in class. He told me that I was the coolest, though, but they don't have a way to measure coolness. So I told him that they could measure cool with winks and gave him a big wink! This is a picture he took after school but he says my wink in the morning was much better.

Lost Tooth
I had my first loose tooth yesterday. It was very exciting. Until it hurt to eat. Then it wasn't a lot of fun. Mummy had to cut up my dinner like when I was a baby. We thought she was going to have to do the same for my school lunch today as well, but it had come out by then. It fell out at 5am this morning and I rushed through to Mummy and Daddy to tell them. Daddy asked if I'd been playing with it all night to make it fall out but I assured him it was only for part of the night and not all of it.
So, The Tooth Fairy will be around tonight. I can't wait!

Busy Afternoon
We went geocaching this afternoon again. It was a long afternoon and Mummy and Daddy took me a bit too far without anything to eat or drink - it'd really help if they either prepared properly or had the first clue where they were going half the time. I think Daddy could benefit from owning a new iPhone 4, I'll try to convince Mummy of this.
Anyway, we got 5 caches this afternoon and with another one this morning, today has been our most productive caching day! We started the afternoon at Bangour Village Hospital and I took my bike. It was great fun cycling around there although a bit steep at times; of course, if you have to cycle up a hill there's always the coming down! Mummy was a bit scared some of those times! It's a good safe place as there are no cars but a lot of roads. Mummy says she might bring me here for some cycling during the summer holidays.
After Bangour we picked up another cache across the road beside a sign very similar to the Hollywood sign I saw in the Bolt movie.
The next two caches were near Dechmont Law which turned out to be steep hill with a cool forest nearby. One of the caches was near where the aliens were spotted and I drew a nice picture of an alien in the log!
And then it was *very* long walk back to the car. And then off for some fish and chips and doughnuts for afterwards!

Report Card 2010
Got my report card today. Obviously the scores are excellent but I need the teacher-types that read this blog to decode the stuff my teacher has said...
"Edan quickly settled into the school environment and he has had a successful year in Primary 1. He is a cheerful, caring child and he has developed good friendships with other children. He usually works conscientiously although he has, on occasion, required some support with staying on task and following the school rules, especially during independent activity times. Edan is a confident speaker in all class situations and he is keen to talk about his ideas with others. He effectively contributes to discussions and he answers questions thoughfully. Edan is an enthusiastic reader, who reads aloud confidently and expressively. He often chooses to read books in the story corner. He demonstrates a good understanding of stories, in both oral and written activities, and he is now reading a wider-range of texts, including non-fiction. Edan has original ideas for writing and he can construct sentences independently. He can spell familiar words and is developing his skills in spelling new words for himself, which gives him great satisfaction. Edan has coped very well with the mathematical concepts covered and he works independently to complete tasks. Edan has shown great interest in all our topics and he has contributed his imaginative ideas to the development of these. He has a good knowledge and understanding of a wide-range of subjects and he has enjoyed sharing this with the class. He can use the Smartboard and computer independently. Edan has been an active member of the school's Eco-group this year, a role which has given him a good sense of responsibility and achievement. Well done, Edan!"

Skyfest 2010
Our annual visit to Daddy's work again today and it doesn't seem like a year has passed. That's probably because it happened in September last year, but who's counting?!
This time, after 24 degrees of blistering sunshine yesterday, it was 12 degrees and rained the whole day. However the most suprising thing was that Daddy's work seems to be in a different place again. It still has the funfair though and that's really the most important thing. We went on the ferris wheel when we got there and then got some food and checked out the musical on stage before going into the large tent to have a look around. Out the other side was the climbing wall. This was the best thing. I went up and down it several times - which is a good effort in the cold and wet and wearing wellies!
By this time we were all a bit wet and cold and after I made Mummy and Daddy get me an ice-cream cone we headed home. I already cannot wait to go back next year!

School Summer Fair
It was my school summer fair today and it was a *lot* of fun! Bouncy castle, barbecue, treasure hunt, tombola, police car and ponies. I played with the siren in the police car a lot - until they threatened to lock me in the back! There weren't many boys could get away with the pink hat but it looks really good on me, right?!

Grandparents' Day
Today we had Grandparents' Day at school. I invited my grandparents to come visit me at school. Granny and Grandad came. I wouldn't like it if they didn't come to it. I loved it. I showed them around my classroom, including our time machine and our outside toilet - both made of cardboard! Then we sung them some songs. Everyone appeared to have a great time.
Thanks for coming along Granny and Grandad!

No Room at the Inn
I put The Guys in their place on my headboard yesterday morning when I made my bed. For some reason there wasn't enough room for Tiger so he had to hang on by a paw. He was still there when I went to bed last night so well done to Tiger for hanging on all that time. Oddly, there was room for them all again on the headboard today...
